Susan Drescher is designer and sole proprietor of Tischlager LLC; a company focused on quality, eco-friendly furniture and decorative products for you and your home. Susan has more than thirty years experience of working in the corporate world, during which she continued her education at Wayne State University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with a concentration in Industrial Design. Although she has spent her life designing and creating unique objects and spaces, she also has experience in mechanical engineering, ergonomics engineering and business development.
Susan launched Tischlager in 2007 with an eco friendly furniture line, handmade jewelry and a new product called Modern Niche, for which she holds the design patent. With the goal to produce exquisitely designed environmentally friendly products of the highest quality. Her unique furniture designs won her "Best of Show" in 2008 at the Macy’s Houseware Design Competition. She was also recognized as one of the top five finalists in the Sustainable Furnishings Council’s "One Good Chair" competition at the Las Vegas 2009 Home Furnishings Market
All furniture is built in Susan’s Michigan studio or by skillful trades people which Susan has hand selected. Pieces are made from locally fallen trees or FSC certified woods. All are built to be durable and functional, so that they can have a cherished, useful, and longstanding place in the home.
Niches are made in the USA and can be recycled. Care is taken during manufacturing to reclaim all scrap so that little or nothing is wasted.
Knit, felt and fabric pieces are made by hand. Jewelry uses wool that is hand felted and paired with new and vintage beads and re-claimed jewelry parts. Each piece is one of a kind and none are mass produced.
In addition to caring for the planet Tischlager is also a supporter of humanitarian efforts with a portion of the Modern Niche proceeds going to support Habitat for Humanity.
